The Town of Porter is taking the following actions to balance the safety of our employees and residents with the need to maintain essential services in the town during the coronavirus health emergency. Due to this emergency, the Porter Town Hall and Porter Public Works/Fire Department building will be closed to the public effective at the close of business on Monday March 16 until further notice. Employees will remain on duty and anyone having business with the town should telephone the appropriate department directly during the closure. Residents can make sewer payments by mail, online or by using the dropbox located in the Town Hall parking lot. Council, board and commission meetings will continue as needed. For public safety reasons, we request that residents only attend if they have direct interest in matters on the agenda to avoid overcrowding and to allow for prescribed social distancing practices. We will continue to follow developments at the national, state and local levels and provide additional updates as more information becomes available. For more information about the coronavirus/COVID-19 visit the following resources: www.cdc.gov, www.IN.gov/ISDH, www.porterco.org.
