Town Of Porter actions in response to COVID-19

In response to the Governor’s most recent Executive Order (EO 20-26), the Town of Porter is taking the following actions to begin returning to ‘normal’ operations. These steps are meant to balance the safety of our employees and residents with the need to maintain essential services in the town.

1. Porter Town Hall will reopen to the public at 8:30 AM on Tuesday May 5th, under the following conditions.
a. Doors will remain locked. All visitors are by appointment only. Please call 926-2771 to set an appointment.
b. Anyone entering the building must wear a mask.
c. Only one (1) person will be allowed into the vestibule area at a time.
d. Sewer payments will NOT be accepted inside the building. Residents can place the payments in the box in the parking lot. The Town of Porter will NOT assess penalties, fees or interest on unpaid Sewer bills until further notice. Shut offs of water service were already suspended.
e. No public restrooms are available at Town Hall.
f. No more Porter Beach Parking permits will be sold.
g. Individuals requiring a building permit or contractor license should contact the Building Commissioner at 405-8615 before coming to the building to start the process.
2. The Public Works/Fire Building will remain closed to the public.
Residents should call the departments with any questions.
3. Public Works will return to normal operations and will begin regular services on May 4th.
4. Playgrounds and Basketball Courts remain closed in compliance with Executive Order 20-26.
5. The Parking Lot at Porter Beach will remain closed. We will continue to monitor the situation and open the lot as soon as we can do so safely and in compliance with state rules regarding social distancing, group size, and public facilities.
